* Sandra's/Chido's Kites
A 7.5 gram indoor/no wind kite. It's very small and fragile. For it's size it's still pretty expensive (30 Euro?). This one is just a nice to have...

A great light weight kite! Produced by my favorite brand HQ . It has the perfect finishing touch & flying capabilities which I came to love HQ for.
It's frame is composed of solid 2mm carbon. All the connectors are improvised by using vinyl end caps (very light weight!!). The bridle is a "turbo" variant.
About it's flying capabilities: It's very easy! It will stay up in almost no wind (even suitable for indoor). With stronger winds it starts to shake violently. Don't worry, spars will loossen, kite will crash, etc.. All with no permanent damamage!
This is realy one of my favorite kites!

A great light weight kite! Produced by my favorite brand HQ .
I just got this kite in. It flies perfect! Very slow & trickable.

This is the first kite I designed entirely myself. The design objectives were:
high speed, no pull & high agility.
It achieved all these criteria.
To achieve it I designed the kite with a large angle between the two legs (so it's more broad than normal kites).
In addition the "depth" of the kite is very low...(short whiskers).
All these changes make the kite very fast & agile. Disadvantages are that it needs a lot of wind...
It's small (only about 1 m wide). I've made two variants of them... 1 in black and silver and 1 in black and red (I like black). The spars are Excel RCF 4 mm (hollow). I'm thinking of making a kite twice as big (but with the same features).
PS SAE stands for "simple and easy". It's rather easy to manufacture (and very costeffective...)

A nice (kinda nervous) kite from HQ . Part of it's sail is made from ventex.
It's frame is composed of hollow 4mm carbon (Excel RCF). Beginners do not especially like this kite. They have trouble keeping it in the air (to nervous).
I still think the kite is ok, allthough I have broken a couple of spars the kite generally survives crashes well.
I bought it as a intermediate between the Pi and the Delta Hawk.
In retrospect I would have preferred the Bat (I think)....
I WANT TO TRADE THIS KITE FOR AN OTHER, INTERESTED?

A fun 4-liner! Its got a very simple construction and seems unbreakable. I'm trying to learn 4-line kiting with this one. It's fun! It's probably verrrryyyy easy to build this kite yourself (maybe 10 min work...)

| Quadfun | Kites Spitfire | Hybrid, small, normal to strong wind | 50 | 7.5 |
Ok! It starts getting serious. This is my favorite kite (also my first one)! It's got nothing to do with flying nice nifty loops or what ever.
This one is just two things:
Fast & powerful!
Allthough it's a small kite it tends to pull you off you're feet. This is THE kite for the serious beginner (who has flown already some super-market kites). The mix between fun kiting and a little bit of powerkiting is very addictive!
It's manufacturer is HQ which has the best value for money! The kite has only one disadvantage. After crashes the spars (EXCEL RCF 6mm, hollow carbon) tend to loossen from their holders. If the kite goes up again, the spars tend to go trough the sail....

| Delta Hawk | HQ | Delta, middle, normal to strong wind | 75 | 8.5 |
This kite is from Wolkensturmer. I personnaly dislike this kite. It's VEEEEEERRRRRY nervous. From the 10 times I've flown it, 9 times the spars broke before I got it in the air. The few times I got it unharmed in the air, I found it no fun to fly. It falls out of the sky whenever you want to make it turn.
Supposedly this all got to do with the basic design objective: FLYING FAST. To be honest, I didn't think it was that fast. Basicly I think it is a waste of you're money...(this kite is not cheap!)
I've bought another kite from wolkensturmer, the stardust indoor. This kite also flew pretty lousy...
Wolkensturmer is not my kind of brand!

| High speed | Wolken sturmer | Delta, middle, normal to strong wind, very unstable | 75 | 4.0 |
This is the first kite I made using the handboek.
It's a large lightweight trick kite. I'm very fond of this kite (I think it's the most beautiful kite I've build yet!).
I'm still in the starting phase with regards to doing tricks (gotta have some patience...).
One (small) disadvantage of this kite is that it's rahter fragile. I've broken a spar already 2 times...
But hey, what do you want when you build something large and lightweight!!! Too conclude: this one is definitly worth building! Just don't start with it...

| Gizmo 2 | Self-build | Delta, large, light to normal wind | 40 | 8.5 |
This is a great kite! It's a scaled up version (x1.5) of the Delta Hawk. It was the first kite I build. It flies great.
It's got lot's of pull, and is easier to fly than the Delta Hawk (due to it's size it's slower and more gracefully).
The only disadvantage is that it's a rather noisy kite. I (partially) solved this by applying a "tension cord" in the trailing edge...
I think this kite (it was my first one!!!) rather succeeded very well! I'm still proud of it.
The fun thing of the animal is that it also flies surprisingly well in low (or no) winds, due to it's size.

| Dark Wing | Self-build | Delta, large, normal to strong wind | 120 | 8.0 |
This kite is fun! From all my kites this one has the biggest windrange. I've flown it from 1bft up to 7.5 bft.
As it is a matras instead of a Delta it's difficult to wreck it. In my opinion a good beginners matras allthough a lot of my friends have complained on it's tendency to whirl up...
It's biggest advantage is that it's small (only a very small package when wrapped) and due to it's wide windrange basicly enables you to kite everywhere (as long as you got the space..)!
Maybe the ideal kite to take on holiday's.....

| Symphony | HQ | Matras, small, light to strong wind | 75 | 8.0 |
Kite made by Rhombus (Thanks Wim ten Have!). You can buy it here.
I traded my stardust indoor for this kite. The kite is pretty good fun. It's no match to the symphony but it does pull a lot. The big disadvantage is it's tendency to collapse...
But hey, never look a traded horse between it's shoes....
| Name | Brand | Type | Line (Kg) | Rating |
| Thunderbird 200 | Rhombus | Matras, middle, normal to strong wind | 100 | 6.0 |
This one is a beast! The first time I tried it had my arms scratched open...
The NPW (originally a NASA brake parachute for re-entry of space going vehicles...) is strong, indestructible and rather slow.
The big disadvantage (apart from it's slowness) is that there is no angle in which the kite doesn't pull anymore.
It keeps trying to rip your arms out.
Sandra's want to start with the mountain board with this kite...
The NPW 200 is from HQ. (allthough cheaper versions of other manufacturers seem to be as good...)
Just recently I've made a 175 variant (for Chido's birthday). It's a lot of work (especially the bridles...) but it turned out allright!
